The side valleys of Valdidentro municipality, such as Cancano, Val Viola, and Val Lia, are accessible from April until November, depending on weather conditions.

In fact, during the winter season, these mountain roads are not accessible for safety reasons, as they become impassable due to snow and avalanche danger.

Access tickets

A daily ticket for € 5.00, valid for transit and parking, is always necessary to reach these valleys.

• Cancano and Val Viola access tickets can be purchased at the automatic totems along the access roads. The totems accept coins, banknotes and credit cards but do not give change.
• Since there are a relatively limited number of parking spaces in Val Lia, you must have a ticket to access the car parks, which can only be purchased at the Valdidentro Tourist Office during opening hours (even on previous days). 
  From mid-September, if you purchase tickets on Sundays, please go to the stationery shop located in "Via Livigno, 8" (70 m from the Office), from 8:15 a.m. to 12 noon.

The ticket must be displayed on the vehicle's dashboard in a visible position during transit and parking (motorbikes are not obliged to display the ticket, but it must be carried with you).

Please note that these roads are not accessible to motor homes and caravans.

Cancano

The Cancano Valley has large, numbered and well-marked car parks, mainly located between the Torri di Fraele and the entrance to the Cancano dam.

Subject to availability, the Val Viola can be travelled as far as the P4 car park at Altumeira.

Val Lia

Val Lia has several relatively small car parks (Praolin, Prada Benedida, and Prescedont) along the access road and a larger one at 'Plan de li Astela'.
