Founded in Varese in 1963, it is characterized as a popular male even-voice choir. In a short time it gained wide recognition, taking first place in some of the most essential national popular-inspired choral singing competitions.
It has sung in many Italian cities, participated in numerous national and international choral festivals (France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Denmark) and has also been invited to the United States of America, where it has made three tours. In 1990, in recognition of his artistic activity, the “Bosina Family” of Varese awarded him the “Girometta d'Oro.”
In recent years, the choir has been offering theme concerts, which have developed with the performance of folk songs from various regions of Italy with the intention of emphasizing how folk singing can be heard as a sung recitation of a way of life.
From 1965 to 2011 the 7 Lakes Choir was directed by Lino Conti. Since 2012 it has been directed by Giacomo Mezzalira.
